HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
Congratulations to the Winners of the 2011 Black Fathers Hall of Fame Father's Day Essay Contest!
Thank you to all who participated in the Black Fathers Hall of Fame Father's Day Essay Contest. We are very excited to hear of all of the loving stories from those who have submitted essays telling us what their father means to them. Happy Father's Day to all great dads around the world and congratulations to our winners of this year's essay contest!
Grand Prize Winner:
Shenae Ward, 17 | Ahoskie, North Carolina USA
Father's Name: Alvin Ward
Daddy means the world to me. He's a part of my life. If I didn't have him in my world I don't think I would function well. Most kids just don't understand what a good father is, but I do. My dad is a role model to me and he's a provider for my family. I look up to my dad because he's like a super hero. He has a home for us to live in, a job, he pays bills, and he loves us. That's a very big responsibility to take on and that's why he is my role model.
Second Prize Winner:
Dennis Juma, 23 | Mwanza, Tanzania
Father's Name: Joseph Juma
He is courageous and a loving person. He insists on hard work as the major key to success. To him, nothing is more important than his family and he was ready to sacrifice his wealth so that I can go to school. I quote his popular saying: "Everything is possible under the sun, fight my son, until your last dying breath because nothing comes easy. It takes much practice."
Third Prize Winner:
Nevaeh, 5
Father's Name: Daddy or Chris
